Average retail fertilizer prices continued to shift even lower the third week of January 2020. And, for the first time in quite some time, multiple fertilizers were significantly lower compared to last month.

During a White House ceremony to sign the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement on Wednesday, President Donald Trump spotlighted some of the trade benefits for agriculture, especially increased market access to Canada. For the trade deal to go into effect, Canada also needs to ratify the deal.

Local residents, including the writer, attended a community meeting Monday night to hear about a proposed poultry operation. Residents expressed their fears about how the concentrated animal feeding operation could change the town and farms around them. March corn is down 3/4 cent per bushel, March soybeans are up 5 1/2 cents, and March KC wheat is down 3 1/4 cents.
As the week continues, traders appear to be less in a panic mode than what drove limit losses in cattle and hog futures early in the week. Even though there seems to be more thought and perspective in the market early Wednesday morning, the tone of the market still remains extremely weak.
